Today we will discuss, what is Twitter?
Twitter is an online news and social networking service where users post and interact with messages known as "tweets". Tweets are texts restricted to 140 characters. Twitter was created in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams and launched in July of that year. The service has gained worldwide popularity. And In 2012, more than 100 million users posted 340 million tweets a day.
As previously stated, Twitter is a social media channel, but it is also a micro blogging platform. It is a loud platform. You can post 5 to 10 times a day and people don’t complain you post too much. This makes it a great place to do A/B testing and see which posts get the most engagement and then use those posts in other social media channels. Twitter is great for experimenting in high volume and see what posts work best for you, and then use those results in other social media channels to brand yourself and your business.
Twitter also makes use of #hastags. Hastag is a type of metadata tag used on social media networks or microblogging services, allowing users to apply dynamic, user-generated tagging which makes it possible for others to easily find messages with a specific theme or content. Twitter is also very good at driving website traffic, boost SEO, and for getting customer service feedback.
It is my believe that it is a good thing to have a Twitter account even if you don’t think it will have a benefit for your business because it ranks well on Google. When people type keywords related to your business Google fires up to the entire world wide web to find results, and many times some of those results will be active Twitter accounts.
