In one of my previous mini blogs I explained what Instagram is, so I won’t over that, but if you don’t know what it is, please visit our blog list and read on. In this blog I will go over some of its features and explain how you can use it.
Instagram is divided in two main features:
There is a third feature called Highlights which is very simple. You only have to upload clips or photos that showcase your Instagram account. That’s it. Lets go over the first two.
On the timeline you should showcase photos and videos that highlight your business. So for example, a property inspector notices a problem on the ceiling, he could, with permission of the owner, take a photo before and after the ceiling gets repaired; or do a mini testimonial explaining what the problem is, why it went unnoticed, and why it needs to be repaired. That can bring a lot of value to his business.
As far as posting, You can post as much as you want as long as relevant to you business, but I think is fair to say that you should post at least once a day to keep the account active. And when taking photos try to get good lighting, good framing and make your photos look interesting.
Now, Instagram stories.
Stories is a feature where you can post photos and videos for 24 hrs. After that time they are gone. Instagram took this idea from Snapchat. Snapchat created this concept and teenagers loved it. That’s why it is said that Instagram is the stories for older people.
Why is this relevant to your business you might ask.
I’m sure you know this. Facebook owns Instagram and Facebook is the oldest social media network that is still successful. It is been around more than 10 years. If your target audience is people between 35 to 65 years old then Facebook and Instagram are perfect for your marketing because that’s where your customers are!
