Boost Button vs Ads Manager

I have been asked a few times if it is good to use the boost button when advertising on Facebook ads. My personal experience is that is very easy to press that button and let Facebook do its thing, but you don’t really know who you are targeting once you press it. A good assumption would be to think that is retargeting the same audience you targeted when you created the ad the first time, or that is creating a lookalike audience based on your first audience, but we don’t know that. Facebook doesn’t tell us that. Regardless of the outcome, your credit card will be charged. I guess it is not a good felling to pay for something you have no control of. =(

My advice to you is to not waste your time, and money, using the boost button. Instead go to the back end of Facebook and control who sees your post on the Ads Manager. In there you will be able to control the exact location, the radius of the ad reach, the age and gender of your audience. Not to mentioned that you could also target by interests, hobbies, and employer. You will also be able to to do A/B split testing to create lookalike audiences for different ads. This way you have total control of your reach, audience and money spend. I hope this is useful for those of you using Facebook ads. =)
